Lick and Like This!

Hip hop is a culture, a lifestyle, an expression...Hip hop often swings to the extreme.  Every hip hop dish is served extra hot, extra fresh, extra large...it just has a natural way of standing out, everyone wants to hog the limelight.  Thus, it is but rare for me to encounter a hip hop artist who initially chose to stay on the sidelines...

Mase is originally from Gabon, Africa.   As a young boy in Africa, he hero-worshipped Snoop, notwithstanding the language barrier.  His education brought him to different parts of the globe - Africa, Europe then to America, til he chose to settle in Miami, Florida.  Armed with a passion for hip hop music, he became a record producer then established his own music label, DMS Entertainment.  Mase chose to work magic behind the control booth, til one day tragedy struck.  The sudden passing of his father drove Mase to write and sing a tribute song entitled "We Miss You."  Yes, he penned this song in 2006, yet it still took him til 2010 to step up to the mic to record and release it as a single.  His viral home-made-picture-montage-music video uploaded on youtube received encouraging feedback and indie urban radio stations gave it a good number of spins.

We Miss You (official music video):

Now flashforward to 2011... Mase hit the studios once again, determined more than ever to make all of his hip hop dreams come true.  With all the hip hop energy flowin' in,  Mase churned out "Like This".

This ditty is a partey deee-light!  If I went to a hip hop party and the DJ didn't play this song, the party of would be an epic fail!  Once it plays, you just can't shake it off, it's that sticky!!  No wonder, radio stations all across the nation are blastin' out “Like This”.  It has entered the nationwide top ten Urban Indie Charts, charting at #8; while slowly but surely figuring at #29 in the nationwide Rhythmic Indie Charts.

'Nuff said... it's your turn to lick and like this!  Click and stick your ears here . (yes, click the link to preview the song)

“Like This” is now available for digital download via iTunes and other online music portals.

JONEZY - Real Deal Hiphop

Unlimited Free Image and File Hosting at MediaFire

‘I try to set myself apart based on content, not image’
-- Jonezy

Rappers have the rhythm, the rhyme, the beats, and the attitude with a capital 'A'.    Jonezy has got all these..and more.  So what set's him apart?  Lyrics.
‘I try to talk about issues and have some depth to the lyrics while still trying to keep people interested,’ says Jonezy.
His early musical influences -- Motown, pop, classic rock, grunge, and hip-hop -- all have their imprints on Jonezy's brand of sound.  He may sound like he's out to bite your neck with fangs while doing those rap attacks, but if you listen closely, his rhymes and lyrics are actually aimed at your heart and soul.

Jonezy ain't keepin' up with the joneses of hiphop. He's the real deal.

Hear Jonezy’s full album at iTunes, distributed by JMD Records and INgrooves (a partner of Universal Music Group.)

SUAVE BABY AND WUNTRE - Smooth and Slick Rap

Unlimited Free Image and File Hosting at MediaFire

Suave Baby and Wuntre have been jammin and rappin' since 1988.  No wonder they sound so seasoned.    Since age 14, both were already in the business of performing and recording.  The looked up to Outkast NWA, Ice Cube, Tupac, Luke Biggie Smalls, Big Daddy Kane , Run DMC.  They grew up at the wrong side of town, mixed with the wrong crowds, and worshipped the wrong kind of hereos.  Yet this experience fueled their songwriting, and mixed it with flowin' grooves and beats.  These guys belong up there -- in the league of the smoothest and slickest rappers in the planet.

Suave Baby and Wuntre's are music available at iTunes, distributed by JMD Records and INgrooves (a partner of Universal Music Group.)

Brekbred Breaks Out into Hip Hop Stream

With most of his childhood spent as a gospel church choir singer, it comes as a surprise that Brekbred followed the hip hop trail.    Yet, when you're a teenager, how can one resist the call of hip hop?  Brekbred found his true calling writing hip hop and rnb music.  He broke out of his shell with confidence through the support of friends and family, even his dad Charlie Benjamin, Jr, who was a well-respected gospel musician.

The release of his album is testament to how his music evolved into a fresh and original sound that all his own. With such rich and soulful music background and experience, Brekbred's hip hop music has a tinge of soul and heaps of grit all rolled into one.

Get up on your feet and listen to Brekbred’s music, available at iTunes, distributed by JMD Records and INgrooves (a partner of Universal Music Group.)

Take A Bite Off Twich Flava's Hip Hop Flavors

Twich Flava's music is not for the faint of heart.  It's in-your-face rappin' with a mean punch!  Cuss words abound, but this is just an expression, sometimes a metaphor of more deep-seated emotions, angst, and social disgust.  Twich Flava's has all the guts to express that -- no beatin' round the bush, no b.s!

He's grooves and beats are reminiscent of whom he considers his maestros like Snoop, Rick Ross, 221, Currency, Lil Wayne, and T.I.   Yet Twich has got something extraordinary to things goin' round his beats that are as intricate as his tattoos.  He succinctly describes it as "swag with rhythm".

Now are you ready to get punched in the face and bitten on the tongue by the stingy flavors of his music?

Twich Flava's album 'Area 51' is available on iTunes, distributed by JMD Records and INgrooves (a partner of Universal Music Group.)

Da King DJ EJ - Out to Rule the Streets

DA KING DJ EJ

Da King has left the building...yeah, coz' he's out ruling the streets.
Da King DJ EJ  is a professional DJ who have stuck out to the old school idea of street marketing.  Old school as it may sound to some record label execs, but it 's method that has given him desired results.    From the streets -- to the clubs --- to the radio, his listenership and audience grew to dizzying heights, that has earned him the monicker ‘Street DJ of Hip-hop’.

Being crowned king of street hiphop ain't no stoppin' DJ EJ from taking his music to the next level.  He has bigger music kingdoms to conquer.  Yes, Da King is at his game again.  Releasing a digital album is one of the more effective ways of lording over uncharted territories of the worldwide web.

The Bare Essentials of Hip Hop from The Witty Committy

Words, rhymes, rap, beats, grooves all roll out smoothly courtesy of The Witty Committy.  Yes, they can manage to provide smooth hip hop flows, but what's extraordinarily good about them is that they bare so much honesty, intelligence, and originality. The pain and struggles of life on the streets are painstakingly weaved onto their rnb melodies and hip hop driven ditties.

They say hip hop is not for everybody.  It belongs to the young and the restless.  But the hard blows of life punches everyone in the face -- regardless of age, gender, race, social status..  The Witty Committy
chose to fight back.  They've got their music to help soften the blows; and almost everyone can relate to it's healing power.

The Witty Committy’s self-titled album is available at iTunes distributed through JMD Records and INgrooves (a partner of Universal Music Group.)
